Villagers close shops early due to fog..

Seedorfians woke to a heavy fog this morning, even as the sun peeked in the sky the fog refused to lessen or leave. Many villagers were uneasy, as history was still fresh in their minds from the year before; where a mysterious fog rolled in from the Forest, much like this one.. leaving many dead in its wake.

One man, Jack Williams explained.." Th' wounds are still fresh from th' last time fog came from tha' damned forest, many were left dead and many beasts and beings lurked in th' safe haven of the mist. I can only imagine whats coming for us now, t'be honest.. I don't wanna imagine, I'm closin' up this booth early t'day, gettin' home to my wife and kids.. You can betcha last copper that I'll be lockin' my animals up tight tonight. Cant afford to wake and find their insides scattered 'bout the barnyard."

Witnesses say that the Landlady made her rounds early in the afternoon, cautioning people to close down their shops early. She urged folks to stay near their homes in preparation for nightfall. Nevia von Abendroth, though still fresh to the title, seemed genuinely concerned for the welfare of her people and lands. She instructed a small unit of her own guardsman to patrol the village in rounds starting at nightfall.

Reports have flooded through the Village, people have reported hearing disembodied voices through the fog. One woman reports hearing the cries of a child and upon inspection, found nothing but herself at the edge of the Nachtwald.

Nevia warns village natives and travelers alike to block the voices out as they traveled, fearing the entire village would be lured into the 'Wald. There have been no physical attacks, yet..but something says the forest is just warming up.

Nevia held a meeting today, briefing those in Seedorf who could attend on what she has found about the fog. So many fear the fog that she has requested the population who attended the meeting to spread the word. The fog has been found to play on the mental state of the individual it is called. One of her very own, her Commander of the Night Watch, reports having heard voices of soldiers calling to him, ordering him and warning him; all in an attempt to lure him into the Nachtwald. He is reported saying he was only out for an hour tops and towards the end, the voices were beginning to get demanding.

The mother who heard the baby's cries confirms that she is a mother, who lost her first child due to the stresses of the Regency Wars.

Nevia warns those traveling to find ways to block out the voices, she encourages people to stay in doors and away from windows when they are able but she understands it's impossible to completely lock oneself away.

Shortly after the briefing, half a dozen people reported the infestation of snakes. Some highly poisonous while others were harmless. They seem to be coming from the Nachtwald, hiding themselves well in the thick blanket of fog. The year prior, along with the fog came a multitude of rats..and this time it is snakes, some capable of issuing a death-bite. Nevia put healers on guard and asked them to make themselves readily available to anyone who suffers a bite.

BREAKING NEWS:

Reports just in.. a body was found mangled near the borders of the Nachtwald by a farmer who was checking on his livestock. No identification has been made but some speculate it was an unsuspecting traveler.

The body is reported to have been sliced open from throat to pelvic in a gruesome laceration, what could be found of the insides were strewn across the ground in a trail leading into the Nachtwald.

Lady Abendroth and Commander Aramov of the Watch have both been notified and are expected to be at the scene throughout the day.

As if the death wasn't bad enough..now there are wolves pouring from the 'Wald! Nevia Abendroth and her two guards were attacked after leaving the Old Tower Inn by what the Lady describes as tainted wolves...that smelled strongly of death.

" They manifested in the fog all around us and though none of us were hurt, thanks to the quick actions of my guards, it was still very frightening and very unexpected. When the wolves were crying their death howls, all around us and all across the villages..howls from other wolves answered them."

Nevia has no put a curfew up yet but she warns villagers again to be careful when traveling, urging them to travel with weapons of some sort and to stay in groups.

The next morning following the wolf attacks, a second corpse was found near the Nachtwald; the man was identified to be a traveler, on his way through. The body had been ripped to shreds, a portion of his neck and throat literally had been ripped away..believing to be the cause of his death. Many speculate it was these tainted wolves that have begun to infest the Village.

Fog, snakes, death and now wolves..what else could the Nachtwald throw at us.

BREAKING NEWS:

In an odd change of events.. the fog has receeded into the Nachtwald! Villagers and travelers alike are thankful for the decrease in fog but natives find themselves wary that this is only a tease for bigger things to come.

Now with the fog having departed Seedorf is left with a massive blizzard on their hands which has laid down a solid ten inches of snow, killing crops and ruining fall harvest for many farmers. Locals fear the winter food supply will be scarce.

Though the fog has lifted many reports have come in surrounding the infiltration of tainted 'Wald wolves which are reported to still be lingering in and around Seedorf. The Lady has requested that everyone keep on their guard when traveling, especially at night.
